A Match Made by Those In Heaven!!
One Person, One Voice = Great Changes !!

Dear Jayne,

I have invited Rhonda Mckelvie to join our Action Network, and she has enthusiastically agreed. Rhonda is the daughter of a patient of mine, Joanne, who unfortunately died of lung cancer only eight or nine months after she was diagnosed despite the most agressive treatment we could muster.

Rhonda was a tremendous caregiver and advocate for her mother. She has been energized into activism by her mother's struggle, and has a particular interest in advancing the interests of patients with lung cancer, patients with stage IV disease, and remote patients because of her mother's experience.

Rhonda does not have a lot of experience in the cancer community. As a result she has much to learn but she can also approach our mission with fresh ideas. I have circulated the one page summary to her so she has a little background on what's involved. I ask that you help to task her and bring her up to speed. I have assured her that you are nurturing and approachable, and that she shouldn't feel shy about sharing her ideas. She is interested in gaining experience to help her with her personal objectives, and is also interested in advancing the cancer control agenda in more general terms.

She has offered a link to the story of her mother's final year. I think it'll help you see where she's coming from.

Her e-mail address is in the cc header. I think she lives in Langley, but you two can sort out contact info. Thanks in advance for taking her on.

Best,
Islam
